Question 2 Evaluation Draft

How does your media product represent particular social group?

The audience of grime and hip hop can be shown in the images of my front cover, dps and contents page with series of dark colours which gives the magazine a serious tone and feeling towards the genre. My media product represents a particular social group such as the young individuals and middle aged people i have done this by including various amount of colours for instance dark colours like black, purple and red. The language used throughout my music magazine is mainly due for the young individuals aged between 16-26 as it contain some use of informal language however, the double page spread is formal as it will interest the older audience. The audience of BGH magazine can also be shown through the young model as the clothing is really trendy and it allows teens and young individuals to pick up these new styles and be engaged to the magazine. The fashion sense of the magazine will influence more younger people such as teens to read the magazine and be more entitled to what they wear and find common trends.

The gender of the magazine is mainly for the males because as grime in the uk is a big thing and most of the top grime artists are males such as stormzy they talk about things such as crime and violence on the streets which don't really relate to the females. In addition, Hip hop is always a male influence as it has the same reason as grime. Although, there are female artists such as Nicki Minaj the majority is male which express explicit information. However, the colour scheme of black, red and dark purple will attract both genders males and females. The age of the audience is determined from the images used which expresses the ageing of the magazine which is mainly young people. However, the terminology used in the double page spread is formal which will attract older audience.

The social class of the magazine is middle and working class because of this is the fact that the language used in the front cover and contents is informal whereas the terminology used in the double page spread is formal. As grime is a big scene is the UK it mostly attract the working class due to the information the spread through their songs such as struggling at first but working there way up. On the other hand, the audience will be into club life and new technology which all consume a huge amount of money which aims at the middle class.
