Question 1 Evaluation Draft

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music magazine which is called BGH which stands for Best Grime and Hip-Hop. In addition, I used a variety of conventions which was influenced by my case studies XXL Freshman 2015 and Rolling Stone. My magazine develops and challenges forms of real media magazines. Firstly, my front cover follows conventions of XXL and the layout of the front cover is similar to an XXL magazine which was different from my original XXL magazine. Furthermore, the bold text applied on the side was followed from the XXL magazine as the text is rather clear, vivid and appealing. The image applied on the front cover was different from my case studies as they were image of a group of hip hop artists and an image, shot type of the face which included Dr.Dre and Ice Cube. Whereas, my image challenged this by including an image shot by my model crouching down.
Both magazines BGH and XXL also share similar genre which link to one another, allowing me to make my magazine look like a real music magazine and also show that my magazine follows the genres of hip hop and grime. The use of bold text in cover lines and masthead is similar to XXL and Rolling Stone as they allow readers of the magazine to read with ease and also to be appealing to the audience. The colour scheme of my music magazine BGH has similarities with my case studies which are XXL and Rolling Stone. The colour scheme of BGH magazine consists of purple, blue, red and black the reason for this is because red is the XXL logo colour so i wanted it to represent hip hop and in grime magazine there a lot of darker colours so i added purple to my magazine and black as it makes everything vivid and defining which allows the consumers to be engaged and i wanted it to look professional.
